About

Rasmus Hurup Hansen

Systems developer since 2004. Head of development and CTO for ten years. Based in Rudkøbing on the island of Langeland.

I am 40 and live in Rudkøbing on Langeland with my dog Alba. My daughter Freya is 14. I started writing code as a teenager and have made a living from it since 2004, first as an apprentice and later as a developer, team lead, CTO and head of development.

What I am best at is standing between engineering and the business. I can sit in a management meeting about what a problem costs and write the code afterwards. The best solutions I have been part of came from exactly that spot, where neither side got translated wrong along the way.

I am self-taught in most of what I use day to day, and I still learn fastest by building something real with it. That is also why I keep my own products running alongside client work.

From 1986 to now

Work and private life share a column. They have always moved each other around anyway.

When I am not working

Home Assistant

The house is automated to a degree that is hard to justify rationally. It is also where I try new things out without a client paying for the experiment.

Electronics

ESP8266, DS18B20 and a soldering iron. There is something calming about debugging you can measure your way through with a multimeter instead of reading log files.

3D printing and prototypes

From cable holders to enclosures for the electronics projects that would otherwise sit loose on a shelf gathering dust.

Passionflowers

I collect passiflora and other tropical plants, and photograph them. They filled huruphansen.dk for years, long before this site was about work.

Enough about me

If you got this far you probably have something on your mind. Do get in touch.
